PNG files look great but they're heavy — especially for photos or screenshots. Website uploads, email attachment limits, government forms that cap you at something like "JPG, max 100KB" — JPG is the answer in all of these cases. Keep quality at 90% and you won't notice any difference by eye, yet the file comes out several times smaller. One thing to remember: any transparent parts of a PNG turn white in JPG, since JPG doesn't support transparency.
